| E' fra le provincie di Agrigento, Caltanissetta e Enna che le miniere di zolfo hanno avuto, in questi due ultimi secoli, grande importanza economica per l'isola. Così anche i minatori, numerosissimi, sono entrati prepotentemente a far parte integrante in molte manifestazioni religiose. A Sommatino hanno anche assunto un ruolo importante nella rappresentazione della Passione di Cristo. Sono loro che, in divisa ed elmetto, hanno il compito di deporre il Cristo morto dalla croce all'urna e di portarlo in processione. | It is between the provinces of Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Enna that the sulfur mines have had, in these two last centuries, great economic importance for the island. Therefore also the miners, most numerous, are entrances overbearing to make integrating part in many religious manifestations. To Sommatino also they have assumed an important role in the show of the Passion of Christ. They are they that, in uniform and helmet, they have the task to place the Christ died from the cross to the urn and of carry on in procession. |
